The church of today is shrinking. People are deconstructing their faith and voting with their feet, even if it leaves them adrift in a wilderness looking for answers within wispy versions of pop culture beliefs. But some of this is because of the platitudes, advice, religiousness, and wounds that have come from those within the church.
In 1 Samuel 27 we see a church in the wilderness that welcomes the marginalized, doubting, suffering, and broken in David. In Ziklag, David finds a church where he is safe in his weariness of survival after 10 years of running from Saul. Join Pastor Mark as he encourages the church of OPRC to be more like the Ziklag church that embraces the wilderness and those wandering within it, offering relational intimacy and safety.
